I have developed a flask-python app and worked perfectly on my localhost, with a few mysql database lines available on workbench. Since I deployed with pythonanywhere I cannot access the database for workbench, and I see only the thumbnail of the picture saved in UPLOAD_FOLDER: Further more when try to give access to the database in the MYSQL console in pythonanywhere it denies access to the user. Free accounts have restricted internet access, so unless you upgrade, you will not be able to connect to external services (which are not whitelisted).
