DNS Alternative to CNAME for Domain

Hi there,

I just purchased the $5 tier, and I'm trying to configure my domain. I "renamed" the app to my domain, and it gave me a new address to apply to my domain as a CNAME Record.

However, my domain host does not allow CNAME Records to be applied to top-level domains - only to sub-domains.

Is there any other way to configure my domain to work with PythonAnywhere? Perhaps an A Record, or Nameserver address? This is a little out of my wheelhouse, so I would love some help.

Thanks in advance,

Dax

The normal way we recommend setting up your site on PythonAnywhere is to have the official site at www.yourdomain.com. www is a subdomain, so you can use a CNAME record for it.

You can then set things up so that when someone goes to yourdomain.com without the www at the start, they are redirected automatically to www.yourdomain.com -- see this help page for details.

Thanks Giles, I have done that now, with some help from my domain registrar, and it’s working.

Excellent, glad to hear you got it working!
