can't put @ in the bash using mac

Hello, I'm working with a mac and is impossible to me put and @ in the bash if I hold alt +2 to put the @ the bash does strange things, can some one help me is so annoying, 'cause I have to wait 'till I get to my work so I can use a windows PC to do it. I'm using Chrome, I try it with Firefox too, but still can't :)

Any Mac people lurking?

Do you mean Shift + 2 does nothing, and do most other 'shift' characters work in your Bash console?
