This isn't a question per say, more of a query. Have you updated your .vimrc or .bashrc or customized the shell in anyway to make the ssh environment better?

I've made some tweaks to my vimrc in order to replace some common key combinations that are normally stolen by the browser -- i've remapped block-selection visual mode to <leader>q for example...
