I am trying out Apache spark project here and i cloned it from https://github.com/apache/spark . But then i need mvn to build it so that i can run the necessary programs and check out.

No, sorry. At the moment, Java doesn't work in our user environments and since both Spark and Maven are Java-based that means that they won't work on PythonAnywhere.
