is there a straightforward way to do this in python or is it best to use some kind of third party embed?

By the Indian Bot, do you mean that we were getting spam piling up in the forums again? We do seem to be being targeted at the moment, which is a bit annoying. We use Akismet for spam detection, though, so when we mark something as spam, the central Akismet server is notified of the IP address and content of the spam messages, which will make life hard for them across the Internet. So they're only hurting themselves in the long run...

I mean it picks up some info from https://madmartin.pythonanywhere.com/input yet no other pages (i've been through all the google set up docs and doesn't seem to be an obvious error)

does DNS configuration need to be addressed somehow?

Why do you think that DNS configuration would be the issue. The DNS for your site does not change between pages.
